Consultant and Specialist in Restorative Dentistry
Ishpinder graduated in 2009 from King’s College London with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery, during which time she achieved several awards for her clinical skills and knowledge. She then completed senior house officer posts in both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative Dentistry, as well as time gaining experience in general practice. Following this, she embarked on a full-time restorative specialist training programme at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
During this time, she further completed an MSc in Conservative Dentistry for which she was awarded a distinction and research prize nomination for her dissertation. Ishpinder passed her Royal College Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship exams and was entered onto the GDC specialist list for Restorative Dentistry in 2019 and awarded the FDS (Rest Dent) RCS Eng in 2020. She has recently completed a postgraduate teaching qualification in clinical education from King’s College London, for which she achieved a distinction, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Member of the Academy of Medical Educators.
Ishpinder was appointed to her current post as Consultant of Restorative Dentistry at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in 2020, where she provides clinical treatment for advanced restorative cases including head and neck oncology patients, patients with developmental anomalies and patients requiring combined orthodontic/restorative input. She further provides treatment planning advice for patients referred from general dental practitioners. Ishpinder is an educational supervisor for dental trainees and is heavily involved in providing teaching, mentoring and career development for junior dentists. She currently serves as a clinical lead for the undergraduate specialty clinics as part of her Consultant role. Ishpinder has recently co-edited the RCS guidelines on erosive tooth wear and is published in a number of peer reviewed journals. Outside of clinical dentistry, she holds an Assistant Secretary position with Restorative Dentistry UK, the professional membership organisation for restorative specialists and is committed to improving standards of care and raising the profile of the specialty.
She joined the Restorative Dental Practice in 2022 and her practice focuses on treatment of patients requiring prosthodontic treatment, implant dentistry, and multidisciplinary restorative cases including the management of head and neck oncology patients and patients with dental anomalies.
